The promise of a New Year

Filed under: Melancholy — kirataffy @ 8:37 am

It is December 29th, 2007 and in two days it will be the dawn of a whole new year!  A year full of hopes, dreams, and promise.   An imagined “fresh start” to what ever we want to change.  I love a new year.  I hope you do to.   Walk with the Lord, hand over all your worries to Him.  Trust that He knows best for you, and your new year will be alot less stressfull.

YEA!!! The holidays are over! Normal life has returned.

Filed under: home control — kirataffy @ 9:37 am

What a relief!  The holidays are over, and life can return to NORMAL.   The Christmas holiday is nice, but it just sucks the energy right out of me, and fills me right up with stress.   So, NORMAL sounds really good NOW.   Even if normal means shoveling the house out, and packing up all the decorations, and finding a place for all the new items that have LEAPT into my home.

My puppy is so tired, she is sawing logs across the room.   Wow, she can really snore.   ANYWAY,  you can see that I am overwhelmed.  I can’t even stay focused in my own blog post.  ROFLMAO.

We all received wonderfull and usefull gifts for Christmas.  This stuff now needs a place to be stored.  (snort)  I couldn’t store what I had.  (snort)     Word for the new year…. STORAGE and LOTS of it.  If your gonna have a lot of crap, you should really have a place to STORE it.   This would include shelving on the wall, bookcases, plastic bins, hooks on the ceiling  ( the kids have really big kites that could be hung from the ceiling ) and of course LESS CRAP.    What a losing battle.

So, I need to write out the to-do project list.  Then, I need to write out the to-do chore list.  I need a game plan!  I need to start in one room and work my way out.  :)    I need help.  I need a magic wand.  I need time to stand still.  I need some ENERGY.

Wild sleepover parties

Filed under: my family — kirataffy @ 10:57 pm

I must wait just long enough, between these sleepovers, to forget how wild 4 little boys can be.  Not only are they WILD, they are also determined to stay up ALL NIGHT LONG, and they DO IT.

I like having these parties for my kids. It gives them time to be with their friends and create memories to last a lifetime.  I was never allowed sleepovers at home or anywhere else.  I missed out on a special part of childhood.  Good friends are important, and having them spend time in your house or theirs is part of the bonding process.

So, as a result, every couple of months I plan a big sleepover for the boys.  I have arts and crafts ready, movies and sometime flashlights for nighttime tag games.  The kids run wild and stay up all night playing video games, and being loud and obnoxious.   I do my best to stay awake as long as I can.   As they get older, it is easier to just hand over the house to them, and go to bed.  They have fun, eat me out of house and home, and pass out around 5 a.m.

There is a method to this madness.   I know who their friends are and where they are at.

3 days untill Christmas and many thoughts

Filed under: Uncategorized — kirataffy @ 10:47 am

Holy time clocks, Batman, there is 3 days untill Christmas!!!  How the heck did that happen?????   I have a Bazillion things to do and the ambition has LEFT the building.  Hehehe

I started a quilted blanket for my “sister” and I don’t know what I was thinking!!!  It is almost done and I am almost out of time.   I love doing it, but being rushed through it is not so much for the creativity.

I see that my husband left with the boy who believes in Santa, leaving the car that is hoarding the Christmas presents to be emptied by me.   Yep, we hid the presents in the trunk of the second car.  :)     The oldest boy will hide in his room while I transfer the gifts to the house.  I keep re-interating how looking for the gifts will ruin Christmas, so don’t do it.  I doubt very seriously if he would.   Anyway, then all those gifts need wrapping.

The ho-ho baskets need finishing.  I am not so sure I will do those next year.  I should really have kept it simple.  I enjoyed shopping for my friends, though.  Thrift store shopping and garage saleing ROCK for making up gift baskets.

I watched my puppy do the cutest thing today.  I have had ALOT of dogs and NEVER saw one bury a toy.   That was what she was doing though.  She put a stuffy in a shallow hole and then she used her nose to push dirt and leaves over her animal.  She kept pushing the animal down with her nose and then kept covering it.  Later I sent one of my boys out to see what the object was, and puppy had allready moved her stash.  Guess it wasn’t satisfactory.   I enjoyed watching her work hard at hiding her toy, though.  I wonder why dogs do that?

We made homemade dog cookies.  SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO simple and the dogs LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them.  I will make another post about it after the holidays, complete with recipe and photos.  I have yet to make the canned food, but I will get to it.

I now have to get my rear in gear and go drag in gifts.

Time is flying!

Filed under: Uncategorized — kirataffy @ 9:43 pm

Don’t blink, Christmas will smack you in the head!

Time is flying by so quickly!  I can hardly believe it is only 7 days away.    I haven’t baked, my Ho-Ho baskets are completly ready and I haven’t wrapped everything yet.  We have 2 gifts left to buy, and then the boys need to shop for each other and for us.  I am very happy with being this done.  Made for a much more relaxed season.   But, if I blink Christmas will smack in the head!

Beautiful flower

Filed under: Uncategorized — kirataffy @ 11:27 pm

This is a Plumeria.   I took that this morning.  It grows on a young tree in my front garden bed.  These are the flowers that a Hawaiin Lae is made of.   Plumeria is also known as a frangipani.   So pretty.

The journey to a new room!

Filed under: home control — kirataffy @ 10:44 pm

We are stretching out in our little home.  We have 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and one living room and a connected dining room and kitchen.  The garage is a single car garage.   Never held a car though.  LOL.   It will now hold a school room and a very small section will hold hubbies tools.  It will air conditioned too!

Here we are pulling stuff out of the garage.

Here it is before we pulled what we were keeping back into the garage.   Just LOVE shoving piles around.

and LOOK, we got a WALL!  A wall.   Ignore all the junk that is piled up on itself, just look at that beautiful WALL.
