Catching up

I didn’t realize it had been so long since my last post.

I did physical therapy for my back.  Such amazing relief!  Turns out that my sacrum joint was out of alinement.  My muscles were all tangled up.  So, the techs worked their magic and I feel so much better!

The antidepressant medication, CYMBALTA, is wonderful.  I have been taking it for 2 months now, and what a difference!  It is a natural difference too.  It is working very well for me and I am back to my hyperactive self again.

Nathan turned 9 in April.  I can’t believe that my baby is 9 already.  Next year, I will have a TWEEN.  A tween to go with my TEEN.   I think I am starting to feel my middle age self.  LOL

Spring has arrived in Florida, and it is fabulous!  The birds are nesting and there are fledgings fluttering about.  Right now, there is a fledgling Mockingbird in my yard.  Mama and Daddy have been wearing themselves to the feather trying to keep that baby safe and fed.  I was looking through the vine that the baby finally hid in.  I came face to face with it.  So precious!  I felt blessed.

Nathan has been keeping a bird feeder and bird bath.  We love watching the black birds and the doves.  I keep hoping that we will get other birds to visit.  I think that most birds are busy catching bugs for their babies.

Nathan saw a Hummingbird Moth.  They look almost like a hummingbird and they behave like one too.   really is cool.

Anyway, at dusk they are out and about.  Easily mistaken for the hummingbirds.  SOOOO, I decided that we should plant a butterfly/hummingbird garden.  The moths will come for those plants too!  It will take the whole season though.

My Rosie, the baby Bloodhound, has a Hygroma on her elbow.  We thought she had something more serious and that required xrays.  Thankfully she doesn’t require surgery.  However, the Hygroma has been drained twice and it fills back up in a matter of days.  ICK.   She needs padding on her elbow.  However, the device that will work is $95.  I will be measuring the dog and ordering it.  The vet told me about a patient who sewed up their own.  I am not that talented.  I did a web search and found the company that makes the device.

Our home school year is coming to an end soon.  My portfolio review needs to be in by July.  Last year, I did the review at the end of May.  Then started our new year in June.  I have math and language arts down.  Now, I am adding geography.  Once we get that going, then I will add history and science.  It will have taken 3 years of home schooling to get it all down.  LOL   It took two years to get comfortable with this .

I have many ideas for next year.  Our home school group will benefit and hopefully be inspired!   I want to take the group on the Seminole Train.  It is a train ride through our area and the conductor talks about the history.  I want to have the library system give a class on HOW to use the library.  How to find books, periodicals, videos and references.  Our older kids will be learning how to do research papers and colleges do not allow the Internet as the only source of information.  I want to have a Heirloom/Antique Fair.  The kids will bring in something older than 24 years and tells us the history of the item.  A really neat show and tell.  I am thinking of teaching a class or two.  I am not sure the subject or topic yet.  Of course, I will want to have the Critter Fair, the Florida History Fair, and not sure what else.   My goal is to provide more academics for my kids and the group’s kids.

My home school room is ALMOST in order.  I need storage in the worst way.  I finally had to claim the area that the weight machine would have gone.  Then I had the brilliant idea that room could handle a couch.  Yea, not so much.  But, it is too late.  We like it out there.   I will make it work.  I really hope to have the room done enough to post a decent photo.  It is usable, but not postable.   I am really glad that we built the room.  We so desperatly needed the space.

I am about to be Nom-Nommed by my Rosie.  That means she wants to climb up here and nibble on my nose and then hug me.   You really do get owned by these dogs.  They love with every inch of their body!
