I have 7 chickens. They are so amusing and friendly too. They are all about 3 weeks old now. I know that 4 are hens. The other 3 are debatable. 4 are Sex Link hens and the other 3 are Bante’s of some kind. Those are my favorite.
We are raising them to have fresh eggs. A hen doesn’t need a rooster to lay an egg. She just needs him to make fertilized eggs. Fresh eggs are really tasty. If all the chicks are hens, then we will collect roughly 35 eggs a week. Some for us and some to sell.
However, my city banned the keeping of all non-domesticated animals. SOOOOO, we have to keep it on the down low. They passed the ordinance the day I added 4 more chicks to our bunch.
I wish I lived on a farm.
