These are two of my chickens and the photo is a few weeks old allready. Sandy ( Kernel Sanders) is on the left and Fog Horn Leg Horn is on the right.
The chickens are now days away from being 10 weeks old. Except for the baby, and she will is just shy of 8 weeks old. Wow, they grew up quick!! They appear to be all hens. I got 4 Black Sex Links and they are huge! One of them, I loveingly nicknamed Roast. She is REALLY HEAVY. The other 3 are Bantees.. so they are mini chickens. Todd says they all look like vultures to him and it wierds him out. ROFLMAO. Every day they go outside in the chicken run. They hop into the TO-GO box and away we GO, with Red howling like a mad mad under the box. Last week, we had to pry his mouth open to get Sandy out. Caught her did. She is okay and Red is now more obsessed than ever. (sniggle) That is Red below, guarding the boy. Rumsey is the little Snauzer. He gives orders.
We are heading to Michigan in 2 weeks. Oh, I can not wait. We all can’t wait. We are looking forward to leaving Florida and heading north to cooler, drier weather. It will be wonderful to hang with my brother and his wife and all the kids and the kids’ kids.
Isn’t that fabulous. They have a huge family and I can’t wait to see them all again!!! WHile we are up there, my kids want to visit Hell. LOL Yes, Hell and it is in Michigan. It is a teeny, tiny blip of a town. It has 3 little stores on the side of the road and houses and a lake behind them. I love it!
When we get back, it will be garden time in Florida. Well, as long as we don’t get blown away or washed away by the tropical systems. We had Fay, recently. She tried to drown us all. Did a good job of it too. I have a swamp for a front yard and the mosquitos are now hatching by the MILLIONS. Gustav is heading this way and looking to take out somebody on the Gulf. Then there is a new Tropical Depression in the Atlantic and for now is heading for the east coast of Florida. My house is wooded up and will stay that way. I pray that nothing brews while we are gone. I worry about my dogs. So, I digress……………….
Garden time in Florida is September and on. I have big plans for a big veggie garden. Tomatoes, luttuce, carrots, radishes, brocolli, green beans, cucumbers, cantelope, strawberries and cotton. Yep, cotton. I have some seed to plant. Cotton is a cool bush and the flowers are pretty and the cotton is real. Educational you know! I would like to do some sunflowers too. BIG ONES for the birds. I have not started any seedlings and I need to. They would be ready to plant when I get back.
I didn’t realize it had been so long since my last post! I have so much more to talk about and show, but for now I need to go feed some chickens and dogs and kids. My to-do list awaits and I think it is safe enough to go outside without being carried away by the mosquitos.
